Whether you’re an experienced traveller or new to the whole thing, there are a few things you should know before visiting Switzerland. Even if you think you know all there is to know, I bet this guide will teach you a few things. Take a look and see!

There are Different Switzerland’s to Visit

You might think I’m talking rubbish, but hear me out. Although Switzerland is one big country, different parts offer a different experience. This is because the country is so diverse, and filled with people of different nationalities and backgrounds. They don’t even speak the same language. Some speak German, others French, and some Italian. This means you must do your research before you go and decide which type of Switzerland you’d like to see. Otherwise, you might be surprised!

It’s Perfect for Solo Travellers

Switzerland is perfect for solo travellers. If you’re on your own and want to visit this beautiful place, then don’t hesitate. You’ll meet other like minded travellers and make many friends along the way, so you mustn’t worry about feeling lonely. When travelling solo, you’ll become your own best friend!

Don’t Rent a Car

Renting a car would be silly here, as the railway is extremely efficient. In fact, it’s famous for always being on time! Consider whether it’s worth your while to buy a rail pass. It might be cheaper for you to buy a ticket to each place individually though, so it’s important you do your research and find the most suitable option for your trip. Don’t book 1st class either: 2nd class is just as good! You’ll have plenty of legroom and really feel like you’re living the life of luxury.

All Hotels Are Something Else

The majority of the hotels in Switzerland are really something else. Even the hotels with just a few stars seem like VIP resorts. The decor is amazing, and you won’t be disappointed with the facilities. To get an idea of what to expect, look at some Andermatt hotels. Free wi-fi is literally everywhere, so you won’t struggle to stay in touch with your loved ones.

Get Money After Your Arrival

You may or may not already know that Switzerland doesn’t use the Euro; it uses the Swiss Franc. Everybody thinks the best thing to do is take money out before they travel, but you should just wait until you get there. Lots of places will accept your credit cards, and taking money out of a cash point will usually give you a better rate. Just try to choose one that doesn’t charge a fee!

You Need to Be Flexible

As there’s so much to do in Switzerland, it helps to be flexible. By making sure you don’t plan too much, you’ll have some free time spare to do other things. You’ll probably find a few things you’ll like to do that you didn’t plan for!

Now you’ve read this guide, you’re ready to have an awesome time on your travels in Switzerland. We’d love to hear how your trip went in the comments section!
