With the recent announcement from United Airlines that they would be leaving New York’s JFK International Airport and consolidating operations at Newark Liberty, Delta has announced that this fall they will be expanding their presence on the highly coveted NYC-West Coast routes to both San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Starting in November, Delta will be adding an additional frequency to Los Angeles, bringing the total to 10 a day, four of these flights will now be operated by wide body Boeing 767 aircraft. The San Francisco route will see 3 of the 8 daily flights upgraded from Boeing 757 aircraft with 163 seats to Boeing 767 aircraft with 226 seats, an increase of over 1700 seats per week . Both types of aircraft feature fully lay-flat seats in the Delta One premium cabins and Delta’s new Economy Comfort Plus featuring extra legroom, premium snacks and free entertainment. Delta will now be the only airline to feature wide body service on both the New York-San Francisco and Los Angeles routes.
“New York-JFK to Los Angeles and San Francisco are essential domestic markets from New York City, and Delta is committed to offering our customers a superior schedule and product on these routes,” said Gail Grimmett, Delta Senior Vice President-New York.
This network expansion, which will allow Delta to offer the most seats of any airline between New York-JFK and Los Angeles and San Francisco, accompanies the airline’s other noteworthy investments both on the ground and in the air.
